Our fact-finding missions
ECPM's expertise has been in death row investigations around the world for many years. Our investigation in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2005 had already received the Human Rights Prize of the French Republic. The one in Rwanda, carried out in 2007, was cited by the Kagame government as one of the reasons that led it to abolish the death penalty in 2008.
Documenting prisons and death row in many countries is a reminder of the harsh reality of capital punishment, even when it is not carried out. Indeed, our investigations missions deal with prison conditions, relegation to oblivion and isolation.
